Howard H. Chiang is the Founding Editor of Critical Studies in History (ISSN: 1943-0795), an electronic journal devoted to the exploration of the intersections between critical theory and history and historiography. His research interests include the history and historical epistemology of modern science and medicine, the interdisciplinary and global study of gender and sexuality, and the history of China, East Asia, and the United States. Among the projects currently under his preparation include a study of the history of sex-alteration in China, the first edited volume on Chinese transgender studies in English, and a collaborative project with Carla Nappi on the historical epistemology of Chinese medicine. He is the recipient of the 2007 John C. Burnham Early Career Award, offered by the Forum for the History of Human Science, an affiliate of the History of Science Society. He earned his graduate degrees from Columbia University and Princeton University, and maintains a personal web site at www.howardhchiang.com.
